Liposome
was found by Alec Bangham of Babraham Institute in Cambridge
of England in 1965. |
| 1970,
liposome had been thought that it can be the drug carrier
and also have the experimental animals. But there were
many difficulties in techniques, and it is hard to make
it useful, so it was sinking in middle 1980. |

Therefore,
a part of researchers didn't give up it, drug of liposome,
and amphotericin B was approved by Ireland in 1990. Amphotericin
was used to treat mycosis. |
| With
the improvement of biotechnology, liposome is gradually
paid much attention by more researchers. Scientists celebrated
the 30 - year old birthday of liposome in Cambridge in
1995. At the same time, America F.D.A has approved the
liposome Doxorubicin in 1995. |

Liposome
is a lipid vesicle, diameter around 0.0025~3.5um, suspending
in the hydro-phase. The membrane of liposome is made of
phospholipids which have phosphoric acid side to form
the liposome bilayers. Phosphoric acid side of phospholipids
is hydrophilic and the lipid side is anhydrous.The lipid
bilayers are hydrophilic and the inner layers are anhydrous,
just like the cell membrane or erythrocytic membrane. |

drug can be wrapped up in the center of ball and anhydrous
drug, can be wrapped up in the membrane layers of liposome.Thereby,
liposome can be the carrier of hydrophilic and anhydrous
objects. |
